An Island List

I collect records – for the uninitiated in the audience, vinyl disks that you play with a turntable by putting the needle in the groove. I been collecting records since I was in high school so suffice it to say it’s been a long time. While I love the format, the music is more important. I tend to have fairly diverse tastes, and while I have a time period like most, I haven’t gotten stuck in it.

One of the things about collecting records is that when you get to a certain number, you can never play them all. That number varies, dependent on how often a person listens, but eventually, every person hits a limit. A friend of mine used to say that all he needed was 1000 records, but the problem was deciding which 1000 to have. I can relate. Another person I know talks about it in terms of what records would you want to have if you were marooned on an island.

In the spirit of the “perfect 1000,” to have on a deserted island, I’ve started my list. These are the albums I would always want to have with me. This will be a living list, as I’m sure new things will come onto it. However, to enter the list, it must be something I would never take off. Here we go!
